Atoms and molecules in ultrashort intense laser pulses:
is there a bridge between long and short wavelength regimes?

After a brief review of the theoretical approaches used to model
atomic and, especially, molecular systems in ultrashort intense
laser pulses at the optical to infra-red wavelength regimes some
very tentative thoughts will be given on the lessons that may (or
may not) be learned from these studies for the short-wavelength
regime.
